our little circus travelled to chicago because jake had a meeting and keya has somehow been to mexico but never to the place that she lived in utero for 7.5 months. we had a great time minus some sleeping issues since keya is like a dude and gets hot if its over 70 degs. the first night we were there, all i could think about was the book "go the f to sleep" because that was actually my life. poor little baby. anyway we got to chicago and were greeted by brad rumans giant head because he had nehas keys. we got said keys and went directly to cafe iberico because i had not gotten rid of the craving i had for the scallops i had there 3 weeks before. rull good. rami met us up and keya knawed on a piece of bread for most of the time, and was well behaved. then she got hungry and i had to feed her on the table. never in my wildest dreams did i think i would go to iberico and not a)get drunk off sangria b) go in the middle of the day c) feed a large infant that happened to be MY large infant on a table. what has happened to my life? anywho, then we went shopping (and keya went back to LV i dont know who she thinks she is), and then it started downpouring so jake had to run a marathon to get the car and rami and i waited in the bloomingdales building wistfully looking at gucci bags in the store window. well actually thats what i was doing, rami was taking keya up and down the escalator. we then went to nehas, took over her entire apartment and then i managed to squeeze in a trip to the brand new homegoods and then i went to dinner with all my friends at d4. it was a great time and i had some sloppy joes which were rull to the good. then my hell night began and i was up till 3am with a rosy cheeked infant who kept staring at me with large eyeballs. sigh. the next morning came very quickly and i called seema to cancel our plans because i couldnt function. seema didnt care, showed up in her power suit, made me put on make up and told me to stop looking depressed and pulled me out of my misery and also pretended to be keyas mom (which made me look like the pathetic nanny following her around). we went to her apartment where we had pf changs which was real good adn then talked about hwo i have a baby and how thats not normal. meanwhile keya took over her king size bed and slept for 2 hours. thank the lords. later, we went to jakes hotel because i needed to get some decent sleep. i bought two tiny bottles of wine, some jimmy johns, and a big bar of chocolate and then i sat in the dark while keya slept blissfully in 65 degs, while i froze to death reading my nook in the dark and eating my jimmy johns in the bathroom next to her dirty diaper. once again, my life is a joke.

whew. the next day i felt a lot better, i got a big huge cup of coffee and walked over to nehas apartment and convinced her to go have wine and lunch at quartino. we had a good time while keya ate her first pizza (crust) and she was like in heaven. it was so cute. then we went swimming in the hotel pool and k took a nap while jake babysat and rami and i went shopping (and i had another glass of wine). then we drove to the suburbs and hung out with nadia, tariq, and ayaan for 2 days. we had a good relaxing time shopping and talking and hanging out, and shahnaz and atif came with their baby leyla so that was fun. we had papa johns and spaghetti and pf changs again. mmmmmmmm. then we had airconditioning problems again so we left at 6am on sunday morning. holler!

8 months old!

keya turned 8 months old on sunday and obviously The Bear arrived as usual. He always trys to take over kburritos birthday celebrations. what a weirdo. anywho, taking pictures of k and her favorite furry friend is starting to get difficult seeing as though the second we put k near The Bear, she steals the sign, rips it or crumples it, and then attacks Bear. she doesnt understand that im making her take pictures with The Bear every year after she turns 1...until she turns 50. so she needs to get over it. soon...anyway i love my enchilada cupcake more than anything in the world. shes so squishy and i love squishing her fat thighs and smushing her face and blowing her tummy and generally annoying her. i also enjoy yelling at her to eat her food which she promptly gags at me, and i also enjoy subjecting her to annoying outfits, which i know one day she will scream at me for putting on her. ahh my cute round headed little booboo baby.

stats:
heavy
tall
giant head
gets into crawling position, rocks back and forth, and then. stops. o. sits up and plays with her kitchen and her purse and her baby (which we have named saanvi in honor of nurrs kid who was born with a freaking 1960's beehive head of hair or something, like you can perm it and put her hair into a french twist thats how much hair there is, like maybe i want to do a topsy tail on her hair...ok i digress). um what else...
travelled to: seattle, cabo, vegas, atlanta, savannah. and more to come! woohoo!

chicago part 1

disclaimer: this post is not about keya. stop reading now mom.

i squeezed in a trip to chicago before we went to atlanta and savannah. i hadnt seen my friends collectively in a while, and i hadnt been to chicago since brads birthday in january which basically didnt count because i was there for like 12 hours and mostly just looked at pictures of keya the entire time. so this trip was a little different. first of all, i didnt cry when i left. secondly, i got to spend the entire day and night there and relax. and thirdly, i got to squeeze in some shopping. woohoo.

ill try and elaborate more on the details of the day/night, but lets just say, the first margarita i had at big taco aka big star lasted the entire day. so anyway, i drove into the city, felt like i was a tourist, went to ramis to drop off my stuff, ate an egg sandwich that she made me (which was delicious btw), went to vishwanaths to park my car in her spot (holla), then quickly went shopping and ended up with a lv handbag and some toms (yikes). hi jake! o. anyway then, we went back to ramis and richard and vish met us up there. we had to explain to rami that tights are not = to pants and therefore, maybe she should consider wearing atleast leggings o. so she finally changed and then we headed to big taco. we got to big taco where nadia, samit, asha, chichi, asif, alka, seema, and neha met us up (god am i forgetting anyone o). we ordered margaritas which apparently means a huge bottle of tequila resting over the shaker, with noone watching how much is actually poured aka the entire bottle. so then, we took a bunch of pictures of my mouth (which are now deleted sorry), ate a ton of queso fundito, and basically i dont know what else happened. someone made the executive decision to go to northern or southern, so we did, where we had some nasty drink that tasted like dhai (aka indian yogurt) it was straight nasty. sick. then more things happened, and then more things happened, a lot of deep conversations and stupid pictures, then more things happened and then we ended up at iberico. the scallops were rull to the good and the shrimp has changed. why? noone knows. then seema, rami, jogs, and bean came up with an evil plan to keep me out till the wee hours of the night (it was like 10pm at this point), which meant that rami and bean vanished into thin air and seema was cooercing me into getting into a cab. i didnt fall for that ish, and being the houdini that i am, i naturally ran away. chichi was with me and he wasnt part of the evil plan for some reason, so neither one of us knew what to do. so we did what came natural....we made fun of people walking around, i saved chichis life, and then we decided to go for a run. also part of our plan was finding a white hen pantry stoop to sit at. then somehow more things happened and we ended up back at ramis and then everyone named my toe "ling" because they decided it looked asian for some reason. noone knows why. chichi was braiding the other girls hair and i houdini'd myself into the middle of ramis bed hoping noone would notice. the end. oh the next morning we woke up because the sun actually rises in sheetal ramis bedroom, and then neha and i walked to find my car and i got real nostalgic about chicago and how much i miss that city. what a shame. i miss it sooooooooooooooooooooo much.

the end.

new little friend obsessed with kay. kay is over it.

we recently got back from our trip to visit my sister in atlanta and to attend kevin's wedding in savannah. it was fun, but i did realize that my family is like a travelling circus. and not like an organized circus, but a chaotic circus filled with laughing, yelling, constantly hungry and cranky (not the baby), and then there is a cute fatcheeked small human who gets more attention that any baby ive ever seen. i thought the mexicans loved her, i thought the vegas drunkards loved her, but boy, do georgians love kay.

so we got there on weds, after almost missing our flight bc im an idiot and didnt realize what time our flight was. we ran to our gate, child in tow, forgetting to pick up bottled water for her formula, and not eating a darn thing. the bald man next to us refused to switch from the aisle to the window seat even though we told him that we would be getting up 93083 times. so we switched seats with someone else after jake yelled that bald man wasnt cooperating. the whole flight breathed a sigh of relief once we switched and then keya proceeded to tap baldie, who was now in front of us, the entire flight. i was so proud.

we get to the hotel, greeted by my overly excited parents, a "crappy" hour, and my sister who was anxiously waiting to show us da atl. we left the kid with my parents, went to anticos for pizza which was rull good, and then went bar hopping. this was the first real night that jake and i got to go out together and enjoy an evening w/o worrying about rushing home. so we had fun. we got to meet all of my sisters friends whose nicknames i cant even remember now. the next day, the power was out at the hotel which was awesome bc we were on the 7th floor, so the circus was in full force for a while. we took the stairs, headed to my sister and minis apartment and keya went swimming. she loved it and i liked it bc i got to actually lay out. then my parents took her for the rest of the day/night and we went to atlantic station in search of a pair of shoes for me (shocking), then drove around atl, got to see rollins (emory) where my sister and mini are getting their mph, and then it went from sunny and 100 degs to complete darkness and pouring rain and tornado winds (a tornado did hit atlanta so i am not exaggerating). that didnt stop us from eating outside and proceeding to sweetwater brewery where we drank 6 draft beers for 8 dollars total. what?? it was amazing until the power went out due to said tornado winds and going to the bathroom was real awkward. the tornado winds still didnt stop us and we went to vortex for burgers where the power went out again. then we went back to the hotel and were up all night scared bc the wind was howling and jack and i were coming up an escape plan with the baby. it was scurry.

ok ok so the next day we gathered our stuff, checked out of the hotel, and headed to savannah. it was a 4 hour drive and we only had to stop once and not even bc of the baby but bc we were hungry (shocking). we got into savannah, jake, keya, and i had a family nap and then we headed off to meet jakes friends at lady & sons - the paula deen restaurant. it wasnt as good as i would have thought, but it was a super fun night seeing all those guys and their wives and then meeting friends at the pre wedding cocktail hour. saturday was the day of the wedding and it was our FIRST NIGHT AWAY FROM THE BABY EVER. OOOOOOH. we woke up, took keya swimming, then got ready and headed to the wedding which thankfully was air conditioned. then we went to the westin which was where we were staying and where the reception was. i proceeded to have a sandwich fall on me and my dress and still eat it (45 minutes before dinner - why wouldnt i order a sandwich); introduce keya to the guys; get called a puerto rican by jakes friend; fix a bloody knee bc i declared that "im indian, im a doctor"; unsucessfully tried to get jake off the stage during proud mary; show some random ladies my spanx in the bathroom; and sleep on a fold out double bed because the westin f'd up and gave us the hospitality suite instead of a real room. HOLLER.

the next day we woke up with a headache. we made a fuss about the fact that we didnt sleep in a real room, and then very slowly walked back to the car. somehow we acquired benjamin dohmen at this point and i wanted to kill myself (hi benny). we went back to the hotel, and then immediately got ready for tybee island. by get ready i mean, not pack a damn thing. NO CHAIRS, ONE TOWEL FOR 8 PEOPLE, ONE FOB BLANKET, 1 SMALL TUBE OF SUNSCREEN, NO FOOD, NO WATER, 2 BEERS, AND THATS IT. WTF?? it took us an hour to get there, we found parking, and walked to the beach. the travelling circus was A FAIL. we looked around, sat on our clothes for 10 minutes, touched the ocean with our toes, managed to get a sunburn, complained a lot, got stared at because people probably thought we were actually like the worst tourists ever, and then left. we were there for literally maybe 22 minutes and half of that was walking to and from the car. it was so stupid. the only person who liked it was keya. seriously. it was the most idiotic thing ever. we get back to the overheated cars, drive back to savannah depressed and annoyed that we wasted the day, and we were starving. half of the circus went to mcdonalds where they got yelled at by the employees. my sister started a fight with the drink person. who fights with a mcdonalds employee in the SOUTH. HELLO. SHE MIGHT LYNCH YOU IDIOT. ok so then we go swimming, keya had a fan club as usual, and then we were all dying and tired. the next day we drove back, dying and tired, my parents babysat for the last time so we could go see hangover2, and that was that. we flew home the next day, i lost my voice, jake and i could barely move, and it actually felt like we got back from spring break.

so that was the trip. it was fun, we got to do a lot of stuff without the baby, the grandparents enjoyed spending lots of time with her, and i actually fit into the dress i had bought to wear for this wedding. spanx helped, but it did fit. now we can start summer. holla back atchu gurl.

if you have actually read all the way to this point, you are an idiot.
