its a...

we had our 20 week ultrasound on keyas birthday which was nervewracking because its such an important ultrasound but also super exciting because we got to find out the gender.  we told the technician and drs to keep the gender a secret from us and write it in an envelope. instead of doing the balloon thing or the cake thing (because who needs more cake after keyas birthday), we decided to have the gift shop pick out a pair of socks and wrap them up for us to reveal the gender.  it was a cute way to find out and it was even more exciting because both sets of grandparents got to be there plus  my sister. keya sat still for .03 seconds and then ran off (as seen in the video)....

ITS A BOY!!!!!!!

and then The Bear showed up....

officially bigger than The Bear....sad

you were born on 10/12/10 boom boom!

our sweet little angel is two - i cant believe its been two years since she was born!! keya is so funny, cute, kind, smart, and polite. shes so well behaved and has been the easiest little child so far. we are so lucky...

aaji and aaba came to town the night before and we started the day by going to the park and culvers to celebrate. she got a bunch of crayons and ice cream at culvers (mostly because shes a celebrity there and not because it was her birthday). then after her nap, grandma and grandpa joined in and neha maushi flew in just in time to take keya to chuck e cheese.  it was our first time there since we were kids and it was surprisingly not gross and the pizza was actually kind of good.  katie and aaron also came with tons of gifts for k. i made cupcakes and keya was sooooo excited. she loved her birthday!!

this was a special day for us because we also had our 20 week ultrasound and did a gender reveal at chuck e cheese after we cupcaked it out for keyas birthday. AND exactly 5 years ago on 10/12/07, jake and i met for the first time. what a crazy and special day!!!

30th birthday/babymoon/turks and caicos!!!

jake surprised me with the most awesome 30th birthday gift - a surprise vacation to turks and caicos!! it was awesome, we stayed at an amazing hotel and had 5 days just to relax on the beach, sleep in, and take a lot of lazy walks on the beach. along with that amazing surprise, he also arranged for a dinner out in chicago with some of my close friends the night before we left for our trip. it was so fun and thoughtful...i cant believe im 30!!!!!!!!!!!

keya starts school!

i took keya to the oconomowac kids festival in early august which was fun in itself and while we were there, i obviously stopped at every stand to steal candy, keychains, and other cool things from   all the advertisers.  well it paid off because i met a woman who worked as the counselor for a local lutheran school right in hartland and she was promoting a new preschool class they just opened up for 2 year olds!  i was apprehensive to even give what she was saying and what the pamphlet said a chance, but i talked with my good friend jessica and she said she was also interested in putting lachlan in the same program. that made me feel better and after researching the school and finding out how great it is, we "interviewed" to make sure keya would be a good fit in the program (technically she had to be 2 on 9/1, so they wanted to see if she would be able to handle the program being one of the youngest in the class).

She started right after labor day and the first week was a disaster.  Most of the kids cried, setting each other off, and I was super stressed out because keya hated it and i hated that! i just want her to be happy and have fun.  after talking about school constantly with her at home, she finally decided to give it a chance and by the 3rd day of class, she loved it. now i seriously have to drag her out of there. every kid is so happy to see his or her mommy when class is over and keya hides from me because she wants to keep playing. sweet! whatever, ill take that vs a crying clingy baby any day - and atleast i know she loves it! im so thankful for this class, the teacher and her helper, who is basically a second teacher, are both awesome and its really helped keya socialize, meet new friends, and will be really great when she has a new sibling to get used to!
