cabo!!
We recently got back from an awesome trip to Cabo San Lucas Mexico! It was so nice to relax at the pool, get a nice suntan (or be shaded if you are Keya...or get burnt if you are me jkjkjkjk mom), have some margaritas, get some fresh air, and eat some yummy food! It was Keyas first international trip and shes such a good little traveller. She adjusted to the time change with no problem, she mostly slept on the flights (or stared at all the passengers), and she actually wore her sunhat without freaking out! She went swimming for the first time and was intrigued by the water, and I really think that she was overwhelmingly happy to be outside! I cant wait for summer, sighhhhhhhhhhhh.
Jake and I quickly realized that vacationing with a baby isnt quite the same as vacationing as a couple. Gone are the days of long late dinners, long walks on the beach, sleeping in, and lounging around TOGETHER. I never realized or paid attention to parents...there always seemed to be ONE parent at the pool at a time - the other parent was on naptime duty or on their own relaxing...and we took our shifts too. But it was still nice and we feel lucky enough to be able to take our baby on such an awesome vacation and be able to relax and still have fun and be able to travel in general.
Jen, Dru, and Rowan were in Cabo as well, so it was super fun to hang out with them by the pool and go out to dinners with them each night. The girls were on the same nap/sleep schedule (just like in Seattle!) so that made dinners a bit easier - although they were rushed and usually one parent was walking a baby around, ha! We also got to go out to lunch in town via water taxi which was..interesting (I will explain later) and Jake and I took Keya on another sightseeing tour to see the Arc which was really neat...although Keyas favorite parts were getting on and off the boat, she was laughing hysterically, crazy dummy.
There were some creepy things that happened on our trip though...first of all, there were all these skinny spring break people. I know thats not considered creepy but they were so skinny and thin and neon and did you know that half shirts are in? So are ankle bracelets. Everyone looked like they belonged on the cast of Saved by the Bell. You know with Stacy Kerosi. Anywho, secondly, my freakin prada sunglasses got stolen. At dinner. Where there were only two other people dining (because we legit ate at 5pm every night). So annoying. I ran back to the restaurant within 5 minutes of leaving and of course they were gone. Of course this gave me the opportunity to buy new sunglasses on the beach. Fake red annoying sunglasses. I was secretely thrilled. Anywho, after buying said fake sunglasses on the beach, we all walked to get a water taxi. There was this huge crowd and clearly someone had gotten hurt. We were like 5 feet away from this commotion but not paying attention (atleast I wasnt) because I was trying to negotiate the water taxi. We quickly realized though that the guy that we thought was injured was dead! It was so crazy. I was legit traumatized and sad and I have been having nightmares about it, I dont know why it bothered me so much but I just didnt like it. It was SO sad. We then succesfully thank goodness get on the water taxi without any ladders thats swaying on the waves in the ocean wiht TWO TINY BABIES and I was internally panicking. All only 10 feet away from this poor dead guy. Later, Jake and I find out that the guy died trying to get off that same water taxi and drowned. What the HELL. It was so crazy.
Of course that didnt stop us from getting on another water taxi to go on a sightseeing tour...big shocker.
So ummmm besides THAT creepy/sad part...the rest of the trip was glorious. And I have a sweet tan to prove it. Holler back.
