random video: keya and the piece of confetti

this video is a couple months old, but its funny.  ive never seen a 11 month old baby so intrigued by a dot.  the dot fascination went on for about 10 minutes before i got the camera out, i didnt want her to lose focus, ha! (plus noone needs to see 13 minutes of this ish)

in keeping with our food related halloween costumes for the k, we decided that she should be a lobster this year and we should be chefs. cruel, i know, but sort of funny? no? maybe? come on! i knew she would get annoyed at being in her costume at chars party, so i had a makeshift pebbles outfit (bone in pony tail) which actually was perfect bc she kind of looks like pebbles, but of course i didnt take any pictures. sorry! keya actually went door to door trick or treating this year to 4 houses and she got exactly 4 pieces of candy, which i promptly passed back to the trick or treaters that came to my house. btw, i didnt realize how annoying it is to have your door ring every 5 minutes for 2 hours straight. the worst! 

keyas first birthday party!

we celebrated keyas first birthday on oct 16 with a fun sesame street/primary color themed party. we had a blast with yummy indian and chinese food, a ton of candy and dessert, and an awesome cake!  most of our friends from chicago were able to make it, along with our new friends from wisconsin.  Plus both of keyas aunts flew in for the big event, and her favorite cousins rowan and laurel, and both sets of grandparents...what a lucky girl!  Hopefully keya had as much fun as we did throwing it!

ok im actually the dumbest person on earth and didnt know there was a 2011 version of blogger and i have been using the old blogger that needs to be written in some code that i learned in cs 105 freshman year and for the last 14 months, i have waited hours for pictures to download and then i forget my witty comments for the captions, and really its just been such a nightmare. however, you should be proud and amazed and in awe at my dedication for practically being like bill gates and doing my blog manually. seriously you should be. thank you and good day.

keyas birthday started out with singing her favorite song (the keya sophia one) and ended with pizza, cupcakes, and wine (for the adults) ((and dexter for jake and i)). she woke up and knew something was special because we normally are grumpy when she wakes up and try to make her cuddle in bed with us while she points at the fan and flirts with it. this time, we came into her room with great fanfare and sang her happy birthday and came downstairs and it was all decorated! she loved the balloons and then she had a photoshoot with her main squeeze The Bear wearing MY first birthday dress that my parents saved for 29 years (which barely fit her). after that, she napped and then got to eat all her favorite foods and i went shopping while aaji and ajoba babysat (her birthday is kind of my day too right - i mean i had to go through major surgery to get that sucker out and hello, i became a mom!). then we came home and jakey bought her roses for her birthday which she wasnt really interested in and then her favorite cousins roro and lolo came over with aunt jen and grandma and grandpa! aunt jen and rowan and laurel flew all the way from seattle to celebrate keyas big day and they had fun gossiping and hanging out and doing fun cousin things like ignoring each other and trying to go for the same toys and ignoring little lolo (who we got to see for the first time, what a cute little ball!). then we sang birthday songs and keya got to eat her first cupcake and we had pizza and it was just OH SO FUN. BEING ONE IS AWESOME GUYS. IT REALLY IS.
