halloween!

-keya relaxing in her OTHER halloween onesie with grandma

-keya was supposed to reading up on her pizza knowledge (material provided by uncle richard), but she done passed out after a long night out.

-keya in outfit number 1 - i love my mummy

halloween was certainly a little different the last few halloweens for jake and i. halloween is special for us because jake basically fell in love with me on halloween and found me irresistable. this was three years ago, when he was the most obnoxious harry caray ever. two years ago, jake wouldnt stop karoking when he was ron burgendy, and last year i couldnt get him to stop walking all over the bar. i also may have compared my head to the size of his calf at one point (pictures all on facebook). this year, we went to bed at 945pm. holler! it was awesome though. today we took keya to her first halloween party at our neighbor barbs house. it was fun. now the grandparents are hanging out (minus my dad, plus my aunt) and the kid is sleeping, and im updating my blog as promised. there. time to sit on the couch now!

this past week...

-keya with her aaji times two...meena maushi came to visit!

-auntie nadia came to visit!!

-me, ayaano, and kball

-ayaan cleaning my house

-keya taking a bath

this week was a chill week with keya. we hung out with my mom and jake got to get some work done! on saturday, auntie nadia, uncle tariq, and ayaan bobo came to visit. i couldnt believe how big ayaan got after not seeing him for two months! he could say full sentences. he didnt really care for baby keya, but he was obsessed with the cleaning trolley i got him, and he managed to clean my house quite well (ive outdone myself with this gift). my aunt, meena maushi came to visit for a few days and my mom and her immediately started giggling and talking non stop, but they took care of keya all night so jake and i got some sleep!

two weeks old!

keya: "ok hold on. is my bow on straight??"
keya: im bored, this sucks. hurry up and take the picture, i hate this bear.

- keya: "what does that say? this bear is the worst!"

---today keya turned 2 weeks old. we gave her a nice shower (attempted too, there was mass commotion because it was me and my mom trying to do it - poor keya) and dressed her up. i had my two week checkup for my incision and decided that it was in my best interest to stop by the dollar tree and starbucks on the way back. i love the dollar tree. today ive purchased a small laundry basket, some tealights that dont work, a backbrace in case my back ever hurts, and some cups. i didnt need any of them, but i love all of it. i heart the dollar tree.

keya got some cool gifts these past couple weeks - she got some cool halloween frames and outfits from our neighbor char and a bunch of cute dresses from barb. uncle saggy sent us a bunch of u of i onesies for the upcoming basketball season and auntie archana sent us a cute dress. jakes friends justin and laura sent her a bunch of adorable photo albums to put the 930853485485085908 pictures that we have and will take of her. so nice!

alright people

-new bouncer makes keya happy
-working out on richards play gym

-sheetal maushi

-grandparents partying it up on a saturday night while jake and i get ready for bed at 7pm holler!

OK cut me some slack on the lack of posts, i have a 12 day old baby you dummies (my sister, richard). anywho, the last week has been interesting. i feel like things have kind of calmed down in my house as far as the "what the hell is going on" factor is concerned. im not SO scared of every little sound keya makes and not freaked out by every little thing in general. dont get me wrong, i am still scared at times, but it gets easier by the day.
my dad left this morning, but he will be back in 10 days when my sister comes to visit. i dont know what we are gonna do when my parents leave, and i dont even really want to think about it right now. we have been so lucky to have them here for this long anyway. keya is starting to get more alert and i think her vision is starting to focus a little better.
nursing has gotten a little easier for me now... if i know that this thing eats every 2.5-3 hours and knowing that helps me plan what i can do between feedings (aka showering, cleaning up a little bit, eating, trying to relax and rest since im still trying to recover from surgery). yesterday jake and i took the kid to babies r us for our first outing to get her an infant bouncer. she slept the entire time so it wasnt hard. packing the diaper bag is more stressful than anything else!
rami came and visited yesterday and it was really nice to see a friend and not do baby stuff for a couple hours. i forgot how much i missed my friends! we have been so busy over these last few months moving here and preparing for the baby and dealing with the last uncomfortable month of pregnancy that i sometimes dont realize that i havent seen my friends in so long...so when i do, i feel so good! thanks for coming rami maushi!!

one week old!

today keya is one week old. i cant believe its already been a week. i am kind of sad that it was such a blur. i am excited to see her grow and get more and more personality. right now she just smiles when she farts :) shes such a lady. today we gave her a nice shower and washed her hair and got her dressed up for a few minutes to celebrate her one week birthday. its kind of hard to put on all the cute clothes that she has because the newborn sizes are still so big. i think in another week or two she will fit into them properly. i love my baby so much, shes growing up so fast. shes practically in college. sigh....

random pictures

here are some random pictures from our first few days at home...

going home!

we took keya home on friday the 15th. we were all ready to leave the hospital at that point since we were getting interrupted every half hour 24/7 the entire time we were there. i think the kid was ready for a change of scenery anyway. kword got escorted by the main men in her life, such gentlemen and aaji did a small puja when we walked into the house. the first day/night we were at home was interesting. definetly a little stressful because it was our first time alone with the baby w/o nurses or doctors to make sure we werent doing something wrong. luckily we had my parents there to console us...the night wasnt too bad although we barely slept just bc we kept checking to make sure she was breathing every 5 minutes. o.

Keya Sophia Ashley

Miss Keya Ashley joined our world at 7:56am on October 12, 2010 via C-Section. she was stuffed inside of me and it took a while for the doctors to pry her out (no wonder i had such horrible heartburn). she was a little scared at first but gave us a big loud cry eventually after the doctors tried to unfold her little burrito body. we were in love immediately.
a few pictures of us before and after the baby joined us...

Last few days of being prego....

the last few days of being prego were crazy. i had horrible heartburn and everyday i got bigger and bigger. it was really hard for me to get in and out of the bed/couch/car, etc. we had the c section scheduled a couple weeks in advance (yes i lied to everyone and said the date was up in the air because i thought she would flip eventually - sorry!). it was nice to have an end date in sight though, because i was pretty miserable.
jake and i did take advantage of our last few days of being irresponsible adults and went out to a few nice dinners, a few movies, slept in, and cleaned our house like crazy - along with having a cleaning lady. for my birthday, which was a couple weeks prior to keya's birth, jake made me breakfast in bed, got me flowers and a pumpkin spice latte, had a surprise massage scheduled, got me a pair of super cute burberry house slippers and tory burch flats, and took me to pfister hotel for drinks (a NOjito for me :) ), and an delicious dinner at the iron horse hotel. i seriously have the most awesome husband ever. we also had some visitors - chichi/dick/rami/farah came up for a visit right before my birthday and we had a great time with them. then lekha and sheethal came up the weekend before and we lounged around and went to the pumpkin patch for 5 minutes before getting cold and getting frozen custard (big shocker). my parents came in a couple days before the c section date and we spent time with them and jakes parents and got excited for the big day...

uh o

i forgot i had a blog.
i am about a week and a half away from my due date and the size of a small beached whale. i am sick of being pregnant and ready to pop this child out. we found out a couple weeks ago that she is breech (stubborn already), so i am gonna end up with a c section. at first i was sad and cried, but now i am over it. atleast theres an end in sight.
